Pro Tips for Homeowners
Check your air filter first — a severely clogged filter restricts airflow so badly it causes the coil to freeze, which then shuts the system down. Replace it and let the coil thaw (2–4 hours) before calling.
If there's water pooling under your air handler, the condensate drain is likely clogged. Pour a cup of diluted bleach (1 part bleach, 3 parts water) into the drain access port monthly during cooling season to prevent clogs.
Reset your circuit breaker once and once only. If it trips again immediately, stop — repeated resets with a failing component can destroy the compressor.
If the outdoor unit is iced over, switch to FAN ONLY mode and let it thaw completely before restarting in COOL mode. Running it frozen damages the compressor.

What's the most common AC repair you make?
Capacitors are the #1 most-replaced part — they're relatively inexpensive and a straightforward repair. Refrigerant leaks, clogged drain lines, dirty coils, and failed contactors are also very common. Most repairs can be done in a single visit.
My AC is low on refrigerant — can you just add more?
We won't do that without finding the leak first. Adding refrigerant to a leaking system is a temporary fix that gets expensive — and releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere is illegal under EPA regulations. We locate the leak, repair it, then recharge the system properly.
Why does my AC freeze up?
Freezing is almost always caused by one of two things: restricted airflow (dirty filter or blocked coil) or low refrigerant. Either way, the system can't absorb heat properly and ice forms on the coil. Don't keep running it — turn it to FAN ONLY and call us.
Is it safe to keep running my AC if it's not cooling well?
Depends on the cause. A system low on refrigerant or with a frozen coil can damage the compressor if you keep running it. If you're not getting cold air and the unit sounds normal, turn it off and call us — we can often diagnose by phone before dispatching.
